LOS ANGELES -

Maui native Shane Victorino made his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, a day after he was traded from Philadelphia.

Victorino had two All-Star bids and three Gold Glove awards in eight seasons with the Phillies.

Dodger manager Don Mattingly gave Victorino his familiar jersey number 8 off his own back.

The St. Anthony High School graduate started in left field and batted in the leadoff spot.  He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in LA's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Victorino is back with the team that drafted him in the sixth round in 1999.

Former St. Louis Crusader Brandon League also made his Dodgers debut on Wednesday after a trade with Seattle on Monday.  He worked a third of an inning giving up a hit and a run on 11 pitches.
