Hampton 31, North Carolina A&T 26: Bryan Bailey threw three touchdown passes to lead the host Pirates to their first win of the season in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
Bailey was 14-of-26 for 90 yards and intercepted once. Hampton (1-5, 1-1 MEAC) was outgained 419-246 and was helped by three interceptions by the defense.
Tarik Cohen was a one-man gang offensively for North Carolina A&T (3-2, 1-2), making three receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown and rushing 22 times for 180 yards and a score. Lewis Kindle was 12-of-29 for 191 yards and a touchdown.
The Aggies held a 12-7 lead midway through the second quarter when the Pirates struck for three touchdowns in the final 6:53 of the half. Aaron Matthews ran back an interception 19 yards for a score, and Bailey connected with Jorrian Washington and Leon Shorter for touchdowns, the latter coming with seven seconds to play in the half.
North Carolina A&T attempted to rally, with Kindle finding Cohen for an 81-yard touchdown late in the third, and Brian Houston returning an interception 24 yards for a score to make it 28-26 with 13:38 to play. But Anthony Prevost hit a 31-yard field goal with 2:09 to play as Hampton held off the Aggies.
