Brennan released by CFL team

KITV4 News has learned former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan was released Monday by a team in the Canadian Football League.

Brennan was with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL.

At UH, Brennan led the Warriors to a berth in the Sugar Bowl, a Bowl Championship Series game, in 2007.  That season, UH was 12-0 before losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in New Orleans.

He was also a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Brennan was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft.  He was released in 2010.

Brennan was also with the Oakland Raiders.
