Blues assign Elliott to Peoria on conditioning assignment
St. Louis Blues goaltender Brian Elliott has been assigned to minor league Peoria on a conditioning assignment, the club announced Thursday. Elliott is scheduled to start Rivermen games on Friday against Oklahoma City and Saturday against Lake Erie before returning to the Blues. Elliott, who led the NHL in goals-against average and save percentage last season, has played in only two games since Feb. 11. He played in back-to-back games March 3 and March 5 and hasn't been back since as rookie goalie Jake Allen (8-3, 2.45 goals-against average has carved out a much larger role in recent weeks. Elliott has a 3-6-1 record in 11 games with a 3.65 goals-against average and .851 save percentage. Jaroslav Halak was named as the starter for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Kings. Halak came into Thursday with a 6-4-1 mark, including a 2.13 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.
