Hawaii Golfers Struggle At U.S. Sr. Open

Eichelberger, Stubblefield Far Behind Leader

Two Hawaii golfers on Thursday stumbled through the first round of the U.S. Senior Open.

Honolulu golfer Dave Eichelberger shot an 8-over-par 78 in Sammamish, Wash. He carded one birdie, seven bogeys and one double-bogey.

Fellow Oahu Country Club member Larry Stubblefield of Kailua was at 16-over 86 at the Sahalee Country Club. Stubblefield shot 10 bogeys and three double-bogeys.

Bruce Vaughan is in the lead at 4-under 66.
