UH Hopes To Keep Penn St. Coach At 999 Wins

Nittany Lions On 100-Game Win Streak

POSTED: 3:20 pm HST December 15, 2009

University of Hawaii women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji does not want Penn State coach Russ Rose to join him in the exclusive 1,000 Victories Club.

Rose has 999 wins going into Thursday's match against the Rainbow Wahine in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in Tampa, Fla. Shoji has 1,016 career victories.

The two-time defending national champion Nittany Lions are riding a 100-match victory steak. Hawaii has won all but two of the 34 matches it has played this season.

No. 2 Texas faces No. 11 Minnesota in the other semi-finals match.

Hawaii defeated New Mexico, USC and Illinois to get to the final four.
