Aloha Stadium officials said they have set up alternatives for parking and traffic for the first University of Hawaii football game of the season on Friday.

The Warriors play Central Arkansas at 7:05 p.m.

The Friday game is expected to clash with evening rush-hour traffic.

"We are opening the parking gates one hour earlier than last year," Aloha Stadium Manager Scott Chan said. "We know there is going to be a traffic challenge and want to do everything we can to help alleviate the congestion around the stadium. We hope fans will plan early and arrive early to help us minimize the wait time."

The lower Halawa parking lot (Gates 3 and 4) will open at 1:30 p.m., while all other lots (Upper Halawa, UH Reserved, and Kamehameha) will open at 2:30 p.m.

How do you think the UH Warrior football team will do this year?
Alternate Parking Sites:
  • Radford High School, $5 (no shuttle)
  • Kam Drive In, $5 (free shuttle service)
  • Leeward Community College, free ($2 shuttle service)
  • "We want to encourage fans to utilize the alternate parking sites," Chan said. "Radford High School usually fills up pretty quickly, but Kam Drive In and Leeward Community College can accommodate approximately 4,000 vehicles, and fans have not maximized usage of those sites in the past seasons."

Shuttle service will begin two hours and 30 minutes prior to kickoff and up to one hour after the game ends.

Hawaii has seven home games this season. The next home game is not until Oct. 10 against Fresno State.

The Central Arkansas game is the only Friday night game of the season currently scheduled.
