San Francisco, CA -- (Sports Network) - Prior to their game against the Padres, the Giants optioned pitcher Ryan Sadowski to Single-A San Jose and recalled outfielder John Bowker from Triple-A Fresno.
Sadowski was excellent in his first stint in the majors, compiling a 2-1 record with a sterling 1.00 earned run average. He earned wins in his first two outings, shutting out the Brewers for six innings and blanking the Astros for seven frames, respectively.
He allowed only two earned runs in five frames against Florida in his most recent start, a 7-0 Giants loss on Wednesday.
Bowker has yet to play a major league game this season after compiling a .255 batting average with 10 homers and 43 runs batted in through 111 games in 2008. He has spent this season with Fresno, compiling a .345 average with 17 homers and 63 RBI in 249 plate appearances.
