POSTED: 4:30 pm HST July 7, 2009

(Sports Network) - Chamique Holdsclaw scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the Atlanta Dream held off the Connecticut Sun late to post a 72-67 victory at Philips Arena.

Sancho Lyttle and Iziane Castro Marques each added 14 points for the Dream, who are 5-3 at home this season. Erika DeSouza contributed 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, one off her career-best. Atlanta won despite shooting just 37 percent from the field.

Asjha Jones and Tan White led the Sun with 14 points apiece, but Connecticut dropped to 5-5 overall in 2009. Kiesha Brown added 11 points in a losing cause.

Atlanta led, 55-44, heading to the fourth quarter, but the Sun cut their deficit to 69-67 with 9.7 seconds to play on the heels of a 7-0 burst in the final 2 1/2 minutes. White scored five points -- on a three-pointer and a layup -- in the last 36.5 seconds, to help Connecticut come back.

But Little was able to sink two free throws with eight seconds left to make it a two-possession game, 71-67, and White missed a three-point attempt on the other end the seal the Sun's fate.
