Jeter, who was named the starting shortstop for the American League in this year's All-Star Game prior to the contest, also scored three times. Hideki Matsui cracked a three-run homer in the fourth inning and finished with four RBI for the Yankees, who have won three straight and 10 of 11 overall. Jorge Posada had a solid game with a 4-for-5 effort and three RBI in the win. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez was given the day off and was replaced by Cody Ransom, who went 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Joba Chamberlain pitched to a no-decision despite being touched for eight runs -- three earned -- on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings. Jonathan Albaladejo (3-1), who was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier on Sunday to take the roster spot of Chien-Ming Wang, earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Wang was put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder. Alfredo Aceves earned his first career save after pitching the last four innings and giving up one hit, while striking out five. Adam Lind had a two-run homer, while Aaron Hill also belted a two-run shot and finished with three RBI for Toronto, which has lost seven of eight. Scott Rolen went 1-for-5 and extended his hitting streak to 22 games. Brett Cecil was raked for nine hits and seven runs in 3 2/3 innings of work. The young lefty walked five and fanned four. B.J. Ryan (1-1) took the loss after giving up three runs on one hit and walking two in two-thirds of an inning.Final Score: Oakland 5, Cleveland 2 Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Gio Gonzalez allowed just two runs in six strong innings to earn his first win of the season, and the Oakland Athletics avoided a three-game sweep by defeating the Indians, 5-2, at Progressive Field. Gonzalez (1-2) allowed six hits and one walk while striking out a career-high eight, as the Athletics won for only the third time in their last 11 games. Orlando Cabrera drilled a solo homer, while Matt Holliday, Adam Kennedy and Kurt Suzuki each had an RBI in the victory. Andrew Bailey notched his ninth save of the season on the same day that he was named to the AL All-Star team. The win also snapped the A's six-game losing streak to Cleveland, dating back to last season. Jhonny Peralta hit a homer, while Ryan Garko went 2-for-4, as the Indians have now gone since May 28 without winning three straight games. Cliff Lee (4-8) was a tough-luck loser once again, yielding three runs on eight hits and four walks, with three strikeouts, in six innings. Dustin Pedroia, who was voted as the AL starter at second base for this year's All-Star Game, finished with three hits, including a solo homer, for the Red Sox, who have split their last six games. Jon Lester went 6 2/3 innings but did not figure in the decision. The left-hander gave up four runs -- one earned -- on eight hits while striking out nine and walking three. Justin Masterson (3-2) picked up the win after tossing 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. Ronny Cedeno had a three-run triple for Seattle, which has also split its last six contests. Vladimir Guerrero belted a two-run homer, while Torii Hunter doubled twice and knocked in a run for the Angels, who won three of four in the series and have won nine of their last 12 games overall. Los Angeles starter Joe Saunders gave up six runs -- five earned -- on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings for a no-decision. Darren Oliver (3-0) was the winning pitcher. Brian Roberts had a solo homer and hit a two- run double for Baltimore, which has dropped six of eight. Matt Wieters also went deep as part of a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. The Rangers also extended their overall winning streak to five games, despite going 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranding nine runners. Murphy, Elvis Andrus and Marlon Byrd each had a sacrifice fly. Texas starter Scott Feldman (7-2) got the win after giving up two runs -- one earned -- on three hits and four walks over six innings. Jason Jennings, C.J. Wilson and Frank Francisco each threw a perfect inning of relief, with Francisco notching his 14th save this season. Rays starter Matt Garza (6-6) gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks in five frames, and took the loss. Garza also struck out seven for the Rays, who have lost four in a row.
