Atlantic City, NJ -- (Sports Network) - Juan Manuel Lopez scored a one-sided ninth round TKO over previously unbeaten Oliver Lontchi at Boardwalk Hall Saturday to successfully defend his WBO Junior Featherweight title.
Lopez (26-0, 24 KOs) knocked Lontchi (18-1, 8) down in rounds two and nine before Lontchi remained on his stool after the ninth. The fight was stopped on the advice of his corner.
"Every fight is a learning experience, I learned a lot," said Lopez. "I knew I could take him down right there (second round), I felt I was getting closer. The corner told me don't forget to go for the body and that's what I did."
