NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico State At Hawaii

(Sports Network) - Troy Gillenwater scored 18 points and collected eight rebounds to lead the New Mexico State Aggies to a 70-59 victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a Western Athletic Conference battle at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Wendell McKines contributed a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds for NMSU (16-14, 9-7 WAC), while Jonathan Gibson and Hernst Laroche tallied 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Kareem Nitoto posted 11 points for Hawaii (13-16, 5-11), while Bill Amis registered a double-double consisting of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Aggies shot a strong 53.8 percent from the field in the first half of play and went into the break with a 35-25 advantage.

In the second stanza, NMSU used more of a defensive approach, limiting the Rainbow Warriors to a poor 30.3 percent shooting effort, en route to the 11- point victory.

The Aggies dominated play in the paint, outscoring Hawaii down low by a 30-14 margin.
