GAME NOTES: With the top seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament already theirs, the Siena Saints will try to close out the regular season on a high note when they battle the Canisius Golden Griffins this afternoon at the Koessler Center in Buffalo. The Saints have been the cream of the crop in the MAAC for the majority of the season and will head into the postseason a confident bunch. However, with that said the last time Siena was in action the team fell to 15-2 in conference play with a 100-85 loss to Niagara. It was only the second setback in the last 12 games for the Saints. As for the Golden Griffins, they will be one of the first teams playing in first-round action of the tournament. Canisius is only 4-13 in the MAAC, but the team does roll into this matchup riding a surprising three-game win streak. Canisius captured just its 10th win of the year the last time the team was on the floor, as the Golden Griffins pounded Marist in a 75-49 final. In terms of the all-time series between these two schools, the Saints have a 43-26 edge, and that includes a 91-73 victory over the Griffs earlier this season.

Siena is an extremely dangerous team and has been all year, thanks in large part to the team's offensive play. The Saints are producing 77.6 ppg, while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor. Edwin Ubiles paces the team with 14.8 ppg, while Kenny Hasbrouck is directly behind him at 14.7 ppg. Alex Franklin has been strong underneath, netting 13.7 ppg to go along with 7.3 rpg. Ryan Rossiter leads the team with 7.6 rpg, while Ronald Moore runs the show with his 178 assists. The last time the Saints were in action they scored 85 points, but still fell to Niagara by 15. Moore led the way with 23 points and nine helpers, while Ubiles tallied 19 points. Rossiter and Franklin both posted double-double in the matchup, as Rossiter finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Franklin tallied 15 points and 10 boards.

The Golden Griffs put forth a shocking performance in their last matchup, scoring 75 points in a win over Marist. Canisius shot 45.8 percent from the field in the win and also made 15-of-18 attempts from the foul line. With 28 games played, Canisius is averaging just 62.5 ppg behind a 40.2 percent shooting effort. Frank Turner has been the main weapon for the squad as the guard is posting 15.5 ppg to go along with a team-high 114 assists. Julius Coles contributes 11.5 ppg, while Greg Logins chips in with 11.4 ppg and a team-high 6.9 rpg. In the win over Marist, Canisius was led by Turner with his 16 points and seven assists. Logins also posted 16 points in the win, while Coles tallied a double-double consisting of 15 points and 11 boards.

The Saints have everything wrapped up, so do not expect the starters to go deep into this matchup. However, Siena should have no trouble getting past Canisius regardless of who is on the floor.

Predicted Outcome

Siena 83, Canisius 69
