HONOLULU -- For the second time in two months, the Hawaii Tourism Authority Board on Thursday rejected an offer from the NFL for hosting the Pro Bowl game. The all-star game will be played in Florida next year, ending a 30-year tradition in Hawaii. The league wanted the state to pay $4 million a game and to commit to upgrades of Aloha Stadium. The board wants a commitment to have the game played after the Super Bowl if next year's experiment to change the schedule fails to attract enough viewers, HTA Chairman Kelvin Bloom said. The agency in January rejected an offer to stage the game in Hawaii in two of the next four years because it did not include exact dates for the games. The board directed its acting HTA interim director to continue negotiating.
