"Well I feel that Coach done a great job. And for Frazier, he should not be the only one to blame. Now everyone in top positions, and even the goverment are trying to do what they should have done along time ago. Roy, from Hawaii, but living in Texas for a short time. Go Rainbows!"

- Eugene

"Jones did a great job in Hawaii and loved his players,he invested nine years of his life to bring football back to the islands. This Year was a very special year, the warriors went 12 and 0. He was the winningiest coach and wants the best for these football players,he saw things that needed to be done about the facilities and really wants Hawaii to go on and have better facilities so that they can get football players to want to come and play at UH. His time is done at UH and he will always be loved by Hawaii.

"Like everyone else, I went through a host of emotions from the time that word got out that JJ was interested in SMU to finding out WHY he was interested in SMU. When I watched the SMU press conference, it is no wonder that he left.

They had a plan that spanned 18 months, exhibited such a professional, cohesive unit, and said and did everything that our administration (from the President down to AD) should have said and done....months ago. Then you throw in a lot of big names, monetary support and a top 25 facility, how can a run down, high caliber, successful coach like JJ turn all of that down. It's a lot easier than what he would have had to endure this year, starting all over with a small recruiting budget and trying to sell a shameful facility...then having to repeat the same successes that were accomplished this year? Not to mention having to continue to deal with H.F. He probably wouldn't have been happy or the same JJ had he chosen to stay.

He probably does need time to reenergize his mind, body, and spirit, and SMU seems to be offering him that. He can concentrate on what he does best....coach. and leave everything else to their competent administration.

in five years, should he choose to retire and come back to Hawaii, he can enjoy everything that he knows he will miss and love about Hawaii. The best of luck to you coach Let's hope that they take care of you and are true in their promises to you."

"June Jones was instrumental in changing our name to the WARRIORS...good move

The school logo was changed to compliment that name change...good move

The players have instilled identity and spirit with the "HAKA"...good move

NOW...would someone please change our school song to something that is more recognizable and has a rythym & beat to get us stomping and clapping at the football games. We need to enhance our identity and spirit for all to notice who we are."

"As a supporter of SMU, I saw a sign at Arizona State in 1985 when SMU played a football game there that said, SMU, the best team money can buy. With coach Jones, same thing. There are 20 SMU supporters who gave $100,000 each to buy the best coach money can buy in Coach Jones. The only way Jones can be a success at SMU as he was in Hawaii, are for those same 20 supporters to repeat the 80's of SMU, which is to buy the best players money can buy. I just hope, in due time, that I can be shown that I am wrong. But, history does tend to repeat itself when people do not learn from the past, as when so few have so much power and money both, at a University, at city hall or anywhere, possible corruption and/or cheating is not too far away."

"I am a loyal fan of UH athletics and a 2007 season ticket holder. I feel for the team to see that Jones has resigned. They were supposed to have a 'victory' parade scheduled for later this month. This parade has been rained on twice now since the start of the year...the loss of the Sugar Bowl and now Jones resignation. I hurt for the team. This loss is to the team as well as the fans.

I was inspired to write a poem to demonstrate my support for the team as a fan. You have my full permission to share this as you see fit and use it in any of your media releases...

We are still here...

I still believe with out a tear
We will rise to win next year
We do lose Jones, yes tis grave
But Our Warriors will ride another wave
To our football boys, the road is long
But keep in your hearts that competitive song
We still believe in all of you
And as your fans we will be true!

Go Warriors, Be Great in 2008...WE BELIEVE!!!"

"If the State's policy is to wait 10 days before naming a new coach, appoint Greg McMackin as the interim head coach NOW, then name him as the new head coach when the required time period is up! If the UH Administration can appoint an interim AD, then they certainly can do the same with McMackin. He's the best man for the job, has the support of his staff, and also has the support of boosters. DO IT NOW!!!"

- Crowell

"Hello,

As a UH fan living in the mainland, I keep close on watch on whatever I can with local football back home.

I think its clear the reasons for June Jones departure were not Herman Frazier. June Jones compiled a list of 19 different reasons, mostly facilities related.

Herman Frazier does not have a $ 25 million dollar wallet to pick up the tab from which Jones displeasure primarily arises.

To say Herman Frazier is primarily at fault here is misplaced scapegoating at a massively shortsighted level."

"june jones thank you for the great times, you were there in our lows and built a coaching staff that will be here for your return.we will be watching smu in the future do to alot of our local boys will fallow you and play there hearts out for a coach that left his heart here in hawaii.. malama pono my God keep you until we meet again ,,,...

p.s do you think that our players got a word that you were leaveing before the kick off at the bowl game the mana was not there in their eyes.. just somthing i wanted to know?

coach june jone summit all in one word hana hou! hana hou! hana hou!

MAHALO"

- Tadashi

"There is no question that we owe June Jones a tremendous debt of gratitude. But, he is now gone and we have to move on.

First, we must be willing to and be able to get off the pedestal that we have place Coach Jones on. This pedestal no longer belongs to Hawaii or the Warriors, it belongs to the SMU Mustangs.

All we can do is to wish him the best and move on with our lives. He had the right and exercised it, of choosing his and his family's interests. However, we have the same right.

As such and second, we have to realize the Coach Jones is no longer our friend. He is our competitor and even our antagonist. In fact, based on his press conference at SMU, it is clear that he believes that our athletes are now fair game. He is going after them. We have to be proactive.

In most management/employee situations, when an employee is terminated for cause and/or quits unexpectedly, the recommendation usually is to "lock the employee" out. This does not necessarily mean physically, but certainly legally.

In other words, we must understand that lists of recruits, telephone lists, computer files, etc., do not belong to Coach Jones, they belong to the University of Hawaii.

While I am not condoning having Coach Jones excorted by a security guard, I am recommending that something close to that be employed.

This is a "cut throat" business. We have to grow up and be willing to play the game.

Third, and finally at least for now, Bobby Kurren states that Coach McMacken (phonetic) may be interested in replacing Coach Jones. This is an amazing idea and should be recommended to the President McClain immediately."

Dan at Makiki

"I believe Coach Jones realized that this is as far as he would be able to take the Warriors with the resources he was working with. The Georgia game was the indication of where this program stood. His statement to Colt Brennon to come back was the foreshadowing of yesterday’s decision to leave. Also, being that he was going to lose Colt and a few key players approaching the 2008 season, he must have felt, it would be best to leave on top, rather than, possibly take some serious lumps with the quality teams he was going to face. This is not to excuse the lack of effort or the procrastination of addressing all the issues, however, it just worked out for June, where a lucrative opportunity came up, and it was the perfect scenario for him to move on.

We wish him well since he’d done so much for the program. I believe that if Norm Chow becomes our head coach, we’ll see a more fundamentally sound offense and possibly less questionable decisions"

"The perfect season...the "high" of which is over shadowed now by the departure of our beloved Warriors head coach. JJ knew before the Sugar Bowl about SMU, so did HF. How arrogant was he on the media Dec. 2nd (Frazier) "Coach Jones is here to stay, I'm confident". Dick Tomey would be an excellent Athletic Director and should come on board immediately to assist in the process of selecting the new Head Coach, not Frazier (hasn't he done enough,or not?). Too bad he has to be the fall guy, but somebody's got to. I don't accept the administrations apologies either, they are empty, transparent and weak. They along with the Board of Regents are the real reasons behind the 19 unfufilled requests attached to Joneses resignation letter and they're the ones who should be taking the heat! But, they won't because they're hiding behind their titles. Everybody should flood the UH Admin with emails to let them know what we think about how our State University done run our head coach out of town!

Bureaucracy, look it up and you'll find HAWAII! We're not looking too good in the public eye right now. We need to get our ukana together. Has anyone contacted NORM CHOW yet? You all need to get your committee going, NOW!!!!!!!! Come on, you're a bunch of college grad's etc, please act appropirately. Our local team is wonderous yes, but I don't feel they're ready yet! I do believe if Chow were to come we'd have quite an adventure next season.

I for one will continue to support my WARRIORS. Because I am a FAN NO MATTER WHAT! Come on Hawaii, step it up! Don't be fair weather fans. When the team is down that is when they need you the most! Sure I was dissappointed, grieved, depressed but I got over it and it's time to move on! It's an adventure. Auwe to all you guys returning your Sugar Bowl apparel to the stores you bought it from, that's awful. I'm proud, they went all the way there and you should be too! Where's the love?

June, we wish you well. Thanks for the memories. "
