2007 HONOLULU -- Fans all over the state were holding their breaths waiting for the Heisman announcement, but nowhere was the anticipation greater than in the University of Hawaii campus area.At the Eastside Grill, the suspense built up slowly with the fans cheering every time Colt Brennan's picture came on the screens. The anticipation became more intense each time Brennen appeared on screen.John Doughty, a UH season ticket-holder for 25 years, said he was anxiously awaiting the announcement. Finally the announcement came, but it wasn’t what UH fans wanted to hear."Now just to get nominated is amazing for us. I am just so happy I am happy that he is there and talked as well as he did and represented the state very well so I am not unhappy," said Doughty.Gia and Charles Berger -- both avid Brennan fans -- said they were disappointed."They could have given it to a senior in his last year who played really well last year and had an undefeated year this year," said Charles Berger.Steve Hirchert goes to Hawaii Pacific University, but came Saturday hoping for Brennan to be not only Hawaii's first Heisman finalist, but the Heisman trophy winner"I wish Colt would have won. He's awesome I have followed him over the years. He is really good but Tebow is awesome too," said Hirchert. Most fans here said they are pinning their hopes on the New Year's Day Sugar Bowl.
