St. Louis tops Iolani in ILH shootout

HONOLULU -

St. Louis won a shootout with Interscholastic League of Honolulu rival Iolani Saturday night, 68-39.

The first two Crusader touchdowns went to senior wide receiver Jeremy Tabuyo;  one of them was a fumble recovery in the end zone.

The Raiders took the lead temporarily in the first quarter after a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Reece Foy to senior slotback Yuuya Kato and a two-point conversion.

But, St. Louis stormed back to lead 35-24 at the half.  And the Crusaders never looked back outscoring Iolani in every quarter of the game.

Tabuyo had five receptions for 123 yards and three TDs.  Junior running back Adam Noga had another strong game with 20 rushes for 147 yards and three touchdowns.  Sophomore quarterback Ryder Kuhns was 16 for 22 in passes  for 256 yards and three touchdowns.

Iolani was led by Foy with 22 for 32 in completions for 273 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Senior wide receiver Tanner Nishioka had 7 receptions for 106 yards and a TD.

St. Louis (1-0) will take on defending ILH champion Punahou (2-0) on Sept. 14.  Iolani (1-1) will travel to Kamehameha (1-1) on Sept. 20.
