Punahou, the reigning Interscholastic League of Honolulu football champions, took on Kamehameha Friday night at Aloha Stadium.
It was the ILH season opener for both teams.
Punahou came out swinging. Two touchdown passes in the first quarter from Buffanblu quarterback Larry Tuileta, including a 50-yarder to running back Ryan Tuiasoa.
The Warriors come right back. Kamehameha scores 14 unanswered points in the second half to tie it at halftime.
But the Buffanblu was just too much in the second half. Punahou goes on to score 20 more unanswered points to win the game 34-14.
Tuileta had 363 yards in the air with three TDs and one INT with a 61 percent passing completion rate.
Tuiasoa had 156 yards on the ground with two running TDs and two receiving TDs.
Punahou sophomore receiver Kanawai Noa had 178 receiving yards with one TD.
Kamehameha had four running backs with double-digit yards led by sophomore Kaulana Apelu with 65 yards.
Warrior linebacker Kekai Kawakami-Kauweloa had a sack and a fumble recovery.
Junior defensive back Javen Sablay had the one interception of the game.
