The Campbell and Kapolei football teams fought hard in a nail-biter of a game Friday night with the Hurricanes edging the Sabers, 35-34.
Kapolei came out swinging first with a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter from junior quarterback Aizon Kahana to sophomore Alton Julius.
Campbell came back with 13 points in the second quarter. Kapolei tied it up 13-13 at the half.
In the third quarter, it was all Hurricanes. The Kapolei defense started it off with a safety. The Hurricanes scored 22 points in the third quarter and held the Sabers to zero points in the same quarter.
In the fourth quarter, it was all Campbell with 21 points. Because of an earlier two-point conversion, the Sabers had a chance to tie it up with a PAT. However, the Kapolei special teams blocked the kick and the Hurricanes won the game.
