Hawaii-born baseball player Kolten Wong could be starting at second base for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014 after the organization traded away its starting third baseman, according to The Sports Xchange.
The Cardinals traded third baseman David Freese and relief pitcher Fernando Salas to the Los Angeles Angels for center fielder Peter Bourjos and outfield prospect Randal Grichuk.
The Sports Xchange says the Cardinals feels Wong is ready to take over at second base while Matt Carpenter moves over to third base.
Wong made national news after he was picked off first base to end Game 4 of the 2013 World Series, one night after making a great defensive play in a Cardinals Game 3 win. The Boston Red Sox went on to win in six games.
