What is Infertility? Generally defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of unprotected intercourse, infertility has many causes and associated conditions. The good news is that almost all types of infertility are now treatable. Our goal is to find the problem, develop an effective treatment, and help you complete your family. If a couple has had no success conceiving after six moths to one year of trying or if the female partner is over the age of 35, seeing a fertility specialist is recommended. Common causes of infertility in the female include irregular cycles with failure to ovulate, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, hormonal imbalances, uterine problems, and ovarian dysfunction or failure. Male infertility can be caused by problems with sperm production, function, or transport, as well as sexual dysfunction. Prior vasectomy is often treatable without surgery. Sometimes no obvious cause of infertility is found after extensive testing. This is known as ?unexplained? infertility yet is still highly treatable with our methods.
