The men become involved, in some cases reluctantly, in the boy's life and are drawn back to their childhood home on the Chesapeake Bay. Soon, they're finding reasons to stay, not the least of which is their fledgling custom boat building enterprise.

Nora Roberts tells a love story like no other. In this series, the reader is treated to character portraits of men and a boy with shared, painful pasts and the issues to prove it.

Yet Roberts chooses dynamic and interesting heroines for each who help their guys work through messy angst instead of just loving them enough to heal their pain.

This is one of my favorite contemporary series.
