RomanceByTheBlog.blogspot.com has become All Nathan Kamp All the Time and nobody's complaining. If you're not familiar, Nathan Kamp is a romance novel cover guy/actor seen on tons of romance novels these days -- a man whom Romance: By the Blog blogger Stacy oh-so-succinctly describes as "snaxy."Now, we at RBtheBlog are nothing if not women of refined sensibilities. So we grant that Nathan Kamp is probably more than just "sexy, with an edible quality."Yes, we think Nathan has a voice that should be heard. And probably something important to say about a life in which his face -- and body in myriad states of dishabille -- fires the imaginations of many a reader. So, I'm determined to score an interview with him. Because there's nothing I won't do to advocate for the legitimacy of the romance genre.Take a gander at Nathan on the cover of this week's feature. Then let me tell you all about "Surrender," the exciting, sensual, and heart-melting new novel by Pamela Clare. The very devil with a clai'mor, tomahawk, or rifle, Iain Mackinnon is forced into training and leading a team of elite Rangers for the British crown in their war with the French for colonial land.Lovely Annie Burns is on the run from her past as well as imminent danger when Iain blows a crucial mission in order to save her from rape and death at the hands of savage French and Indian soldiers.Days spent alone with the gloriously braw Scot on the colonial frontier become daunting for Annie: If she lets Iain get as close as her heart and body desire, their passion could reveal to him her dangerous secret, and ensure a fate from which even the heroic MacKinnon might not wish to spare her.Pamela Clare writes lovely, fresh historicals in the grand old school tradition. Scenery and plot are big and well-researched, yet they don't overshadow the respect, yearning, and deep sensuality shared by Annie and MacKinnon.Clare's writing displays her gifts for drama and character development; we root for the lovers and their compatriots at the same time we savor a delicious villain or two.To enjoy the adventure of "Surrender," you don't need to know anything about the time period during which it plays out.But if you've already learned more than you never realized you wanted to know about Prestonpans and Culloden -- and the failed, bloody struggle to place an exiled Catholic Scottish prince upon the Protestant British throne -- you're in for a treat the likes of which we historical fanatics haven't seen in years. While we're waiting around for Nathan Kamp's people to get in touch with my people -- not that I have "people" -- I'll read "Surrender" a third time, while you --Buy the book.Learn about upcoming MacKinnon Brothers novels at www.PamelaClare.comNext Week's Review and AuthorView: "The Penalty Box," by Dierdre Martin.
