Business is brisk at a local T-shirt shop that usually focuses on local surf and music designs.

The Butigroove store on Piikoi Street near Ala Moana Center has been all about Obama and since the Hawaii-born man was elected president people have been visiting the shop for a bit of fashionable history.

"It's been good. Everyone's been supportive and everyone's buying gifts. Even though it's not Christmas, everyone's buying something for everyone else. It's cool," said BJ Sabate with Butigroove.

That includes Obama supporter Marilyn Morita, who picked out a black long-sleeved shirt.

"I'm getting this shirt for my niece Robin, in Oklahoma. I think she's the only person in Oklahoma who voted for Barack Obama, and she's put up with a lot of flack. I thought she deserved an Obama T-shirt," said Morita.

Visitors from California said they came in for T-shirts to bring home.

"I am just so happy I never thought I'd ever see a person of color win the presidency," Obama supporter Laura Whipple said.

"I wanted to get one for my son because he'd been wanting one. He's in college in California," Obama supporter Shelley Rose said.

There were several designs, including two new ones, marking Obama's election as president.

Shoppers were finding it hard to pick just one.

How long could the Obama T-shirt mania last? It might last longer than the window display that Sabate said he put up on election night.

"Who knows? This guy's like a rock star, might be four years, might be forever," Sabate said.

While it's good for business Sabate said there's another reason they've made the T-shirts.

"This is definitely going to be a part of history. That's why we did it," Sebate said.
