HONOLULU -- President Barack Obama, his family and friends visited Hanauma Bay on Tuesday.

The bay is closed to the public on Tuesdays so there are only workers at the site.

Workers KITV spoke with said they were not told of the president's visit. However, they were told to remain in their offices.

The president met his family there at about 12:18 p.m. They had gone to the beach ahead of him.

The trip to the beach comes after Obama made a second statement on the failed terrorist attack on Christmas Day. (Read more about his statement.)

The president also made his daily trip to the Semper Fit gym on Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The first family visited Hanauma Bay on the last holiday visit.
