President Barack Obama and his family left Washington on Thursday for Oahu, where they will spend the holidays.

The Senate's approval of a health care reform bill on Thursday cleared the way for first family to leave. Obama said he would not start his annual tradition of Christmas in the islands until the Senate voted on the measure.

The Obamas traditionally spend the holidays in Hawaii. The first family is expected to stay on Oahu through the New Year.

The president does not have any events or appearances scheduled for the time he is staying on Oahu.

Motorists should expect delays when the presidential motorcade is on the move.

On Obama's last visit home, he took his family to Hanauma Bay, the Honolulu Zoo and Sea Life Park.

If you capture photos or video of the first family send them in to KITV.com at the u local section.
