President Barack Obama and his family will arrive on Oahu for his holiday vacation on Christmas Eve, the White House confirmed on Tuesday.

Obama and his family spend every holiday season in Hawaii. The Hawaii-born president usually spent the holidays with his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, and his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, who taught at La Pietra.

Last year, the Obamas kept on their schedule and spent the holidays in the islands at a Kailua beach house and attended a memorial for Dunham who died one day before the election.

The president said he wanted to stay in Washington until the Senate voted on the health care reform bill. The bill is scheduled for an 8 a.m. vote on Thursday.

"My attitude is that if they're making these sacrifices to provide health care to all Americans then the least I can do is to be around and provide them any encouragement and last-minute help where necessary," Obama said. Read more about the vote.

The first family is expected to stay on Windward Oahu through the New Year.

If you have photos or video of an encounter with the president and his family send it in to u local.
