Nathaniel Kinney

Nathaniel is the son of parents Lynn Kinney and Karen Kinney as well as the brother of Tori Kinney. He grew up on the Windward side of O’ahu and his formative years were spent in Manoa Valley.

The hard work and sacrifices made by the Kinney family made it possible for Nathaniel to enroll at the Mid-Pacific Institute where he graduated. Nathaniel then attended and graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). After UNLV, he returned to O’ahu to be closer to his family. Shortly after moving back home, Nathaniel worked for then-Senate President Robert “Bobby” Bunda as a legislative aide where he was engaged with constituents and managed their expressed concerns in addition to tracking legislation.

Nathaniel received his law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law here in Manoa and graduated in 2007. While in law school he worked as a Field Representative for the Painter’s Union and helped members who struggled with worker’s compensation claims and retirement issues. Nathaniel is an organizer and serves as in-house counsel for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 50. He is currently on a leave of absence to campaign full-time for the election.

Nathaniel Kinney is enthusiastic to share with voters his vision for District 5 and Oahu. His vision will be shared on his website, www.VoteForKinney.com as well as upcoming candidate forums. So far, he is scheduled to participate in two candidate forums:

* Hawaii Public Radio, July 7, 2009; at 8am * Honolulu Advertiser & ‘Olelo, July 22, 2009 at 6pm

Nathaniel loves our island home and way of life and seeks to protect it. As a candidate for the District 5 seat of the Honolulu City Council, he looks forward to the opportunity to represent and advocate for the area’s residents.
