State House Urges Super Delegates To Follow Caucus ResultsPOSTED: 6:15 pm HST February 19, 2008 HONOLULU -- The state House has a resolution that urges Hawaii's super delegates to follow the results of the state Democratic caucus. The voting in Hawaii's Democratic Caucus will decide how 20 Hawaii delegates will vote in the Democratic National Convention in August in Denver. The 20 would be assigned to candidates in the same proportion as the results. However, the vote does not control Hawaii's nine super delegates, but some people think it should.U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie is a super delegate committed to Sen. Barack Obama.Sen. Daniel Inouye is committed to supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton. Most other Hawaii super delegates are uncommitted.A state House resolution is asking the super delegates to follow the caucus voting results.Inouye said he will support Clinton even if she loses the caucus vote."If the party did not want super delegates they could just ignore them, but if they establish the super delegate and gave me one of the positions, I am going to exercise my judgment," Inouye said."There is going to be a feeling of unrest and that their vote didn't count. So, I urge the super delegates to follow the will of the people," state Rep. Tom Brower said.Abercrombie would not comment about whether he would still support Obama if Clinton wins the Hawaii caucus. Copyright 2008 by KITV.com All rights reserved.
