Ducks Sign D Boynton

POSTED: 12:34 pm HST July 9, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks signed defenseman Nick Boynton to a one-year contract.

The 30-year Boynton, entering his 10th NHL season, had five goals and 16 assists in 68 games last season for the Florida Panthers. He spent his first six years with Boston and two more with Phoenix, and has a total of 32 goals and 96 assists in 505 games.

"Nick is the type of veteran defenseman we were hoping to add to our lineup," said Ducks general manager Bob Murray. "He's played over 500 NHL games and brings a physical presence to our team."
