POSTED: 4:44 pm HST July 17, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers signed linebacker Dan Connor, the club announced Thursday.

A third-round pick (74th overall) in last April's draft, Connor played in 45 games (39 starts) during his four years at Penn State and ranks as the school's all-time leader in tackles with 419. He also recorded 14 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four interceptions.

Connor captured the Bednarik Award, which is given to the nation's top defensive player, after compiling a career-high 145 tackles for the Nittany Lions in his senior year

The Panthers also inked defensive end Hilee Taylor, who was selected in the seventh round (221st overall).
