Eagles Sign Second-Round Pick Laws

POSTED: 4:14 pm HST July 21, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles signed their 2008 second-round pick, defensive tackle Trevor Laws, to a four-year contract on Monday.

Philadelphia's first selection in this year's draft, Laws is expected to rotate with returning starters Brodrick Bunkley and Mike Patterson, the team's top picks in 2006 and 2005, respectively.

The 6-foot-1, 304-pound Laws led Notre Dame in tackles (112) as a senior in 2007 and set a career high with four sacks. He also had three blocked kicks on special teams. His 112 tackles were most among Division I defensive linemen and one shy of Notre Dame's single-season record.

Laws appeared in 49 games (25 starts) during his collegiate career with the Irish, recording 224 tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and six blocked kicks.

Laws is the last of the Eagles' 2008 draft class to sign, doing so on the day rookies and selected veterans were due to report to training camp at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
