Chargers Release WR Parker

POSTED: 2:03 pm HST July 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers released veteran wideout Eric Parker on Wednesday.

Parker spent each of his six NFL seasons with San Diego, racking up 187 catches for 2,586 yards and 11 touchdowns in 62 games. After a 2006 campaign which saw him set career-highs with 57 receptions and 725 yards, Parker suffered a foot injury which required surgery and caused him to miss all of 2007.

With Chris Chambers acquired from the Dolphins last season, plus a receiving corps that includes veterans Malcolm Floyd and Kassim Osgood along with Vincent Jackson, Parker was apparently expendable.
