Keoki KerrKeoki Kerr became KITV's investigative reporter in 2002, after spending 11 years as city government reporter. Keoki arrived at KITV as an intern in 1986, and has covered the business and police beats, as well as being a fill-in anchor, producer, assignment editor and associate producer.Since 1995, Keoki has been honored 16 times by the Society of Professional Journalists and Common Cause Hawaii for investigative, government, business, ethics, general news and enterprise reporting.In 2008, he won first-place in the government reporting category of a statewide SPJ contest for a story on the state’s inability to enforce a new smoking law and in 2007 he won for an investigation of a multi-million dollar city park that didn’t open for several years because of soil problems.He has also been honored for investigative reporting, uncovering a city firefighter who kept working for more than a year after being convicted of selling drugs and for an investigation of the city’s medical examiner.Keoki started his journalism career when he was 16 years old, working as a radio reporter and news anchor at KGU radio while still in high school. He worked as a reporter, anchor, and editor at radio stations KHVH and K108 in Honolulu during his college years. He was also news director and general manager at school radio stations in Massachusetts and New York. He served as a congressional press aide in Washington D.C., where he was also an editorial assistant for National Public Radio.Keoki has been a freelance correspondent for ABC Radio News and National Public Radio, and has written for several publications, including Honolulu Magazine and Honolulu Weekly. Keoki is co-artistic director for the Gridiron Show in Honolulu, which raises money for college journalism internships.Born and raised in Hawaii, he is a Punahou School graduate.
