PUC's Gas Cap To Drop 6 Cents Next Week

The Public Utilities Commission Wednesday announced Hawaii's wholesale gas cap for next week will be 6 cents lower a gallon than this week's cap.

Prices at Honolulu stations next week could go as low as $3.07 for a gallon of regular.

However, next week's reduction in gas prices might offer only temporary relief. If Hurricane Rita hits Texas with expected force, it will disrupt mainland oil markets and that will have an impact on our gas cap.

Hawaii's gas cap is calculated on average wholesale gas prices in Los Angeles, New York and the hurricane threatened Gulf Coast.
