HONOLULU -- Five men swam to shore on Sunday after a whale-watching trip ended with the sinking of their boat.

The owner of the 27-foot recreational boat said his group sailed out of Lahaina for a day of whale watching. On their way back, the people onboard noticed water streaming over the deck planks.

The men managed to swim about 100 yards to shore at Olowalu.

One of the men aboard said no one saw a hole in the boat, and does not know how it sank.
