Put sand to intense heat and what have you got? Glass. That's the medium on display at the nation's largest exposition of blown glass artwork -- right here in the islands.

The Wailea Beach Marriott Resort on Maui is hosting the second annual Maui Glass Art Expo. The event features more than 350 glass creations from 35 international artists.

"We've selected some of the really fine art," said Gary Koeppel, president and CEO of Coast Galleries. "It's bigger and better than ever, as they say."

The expo can be found in the main lobby of the resort and is open daily until the end of this month.
