Kahuku High School head coach Reggie Torres hosted a Super Bowl party on Sunday night to cheer on former Kahuku Red Raider Aaron Francisco, now a safety for the Indianapolis Colts.

"I hope he gets his Super Bowl ring," Torres said before the Colts lost the game to the New Orleans Saints. "He worked so hard. He deserves a ring."

Francisco came up just short of a ring last year, too. He made his first Super Bowl appearance last year with the Arizona Cardinals. The Pittsburgh Steelers won that game.

Torres rounded up Kahuku coaches and alumni to support Francisco again, just as he does every year when a former Red Raider makes the Super Bowl.

"We're proud of them. It's a great accomplishment. It's great recognition for our community and school."

The parties – this year's feast was complete with lumpia, ham and chicken – help instill hope and inspiration in the coach's students and players, he said.

"It gives them the knowledge that if these guys can make it, they have a shot, too," Torres said. "I mean, it's not impossible. They just have to follow in their footsteps. Work hard and stay good in school."
