Dwain Williams Led Team Before Leaving For Funeral

University of Hawaii basketball coach Bob Nash has suspended one of the team's top scorers Dwain Williams indefinitely, sources told KITV 4 Sports on Thursday.

Williams left the team two weeks ago to attend a cousin's funeral on the mainland. Before that he was the team's leading scorer, averaging 14 points a game with a 35 percent field goal average.

Williams has some academic problems, sources said.

Williams violated team rules, including not keeping up with his school work, sources said.

Nash said the door is still open should Williams earn his spot back on the team.

The Rainbow Warriors host Fresno State on Saturday.

Williams played in 14 games and started in eight.
