Wailuku Customers Asked To Conserve Water

County Takes Water Tank Off Line To Add New Well

POSTED: 5:05 pm HST February 3, 2010

Maui water officials on Wednesday asked residents and businesses to conserve water for several days.

The Department of Water Supply is taking the Waiale tank off line as part of a project to link a new well to the system. Customers in Wailuku Heights, Waikapu, Kehalani Maui Tropical Plantation, Kahili Golf Course and King Kamehameha Golf Course will be affected, officials said.

DWS wants customers to conserve from 9 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Monday. Officials asked customers to turn off irrigation systems and limit use to essential activities.

The tank shutdown might cause low water pressure in Kahului around the Maui Lani subdivision, Lihikai and Pomaikai elementary schools and Maui Waena Intermediate School.

If customers experience water problems, they can call the 24-hour service line at 270-7633.
