Maui Teacher Arrested In Meth Case

Woman Faces Charges Of Selling Drugs Near School

A first grade teacher at Wailuku Elementary School teacher is facing serious drug charges.

Police arrested Cheryl Bisera, 47, at her Kahului home on a search warrant Tuesday morning.

"She was suspected of selling drugs and we recovered 2.9 grams of crystal (methamphetamine), a glass pipe used to smoke crystal meth, digital scales and empty Baggies," Capt. Gerald Matsunaga said.

Maui officials said Bisera lived near Maui High School. She faces charges of promoting drugs near a school.

Bisera has been put on leave, officials said.

She has worked in the Department of Education since 1986 and has been a teacher at Wailuku for the past seven years.

Bisera was freed after posting $3,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 11 at 10:30 a.m.
