KAUAI, Hawaii -- Kauai is under a disaster declaration Wednesday night in the aftermath of heavy rain.

A storm flooded the Garden Isle this past weekend, causing widespread damage, especially to farmers in Hanalei Valley.

Mayor Bernard Carvalho issued the disaster declaration Tuesday and it lasts through Friday and it could be extended beyond then.
