WAIALUA, Hawaii -- A man was in critical condition Monday night after crashing on Oahu's north shore, which closed a road in both directions.

Honolulu police said the car smashed into a pole at about 8:30 p.m.

The driver was the only one in the car.

Kaokonahua Road was closed for a time from Wilikina Drive to Thompson Corner.
