Police Charge Driver In Stolen SUV Shooting

Suspect Recovering From Gunshot Wounds In Hospital

Honolulu police on Thursday charged a man who officers shot in a stolen vehicle case in Waikele Center earlier this week.

Police cornered Jeremiah Lopez in a stolen sports utility vehicle in a KFC restaurant drive-through on Tuesday after tips led them to the SUV. Lopez allegedly tried to run over officers, police said.

That is when police said officers shot Lopez three times.

Authorities charged Lopez on numerous counts including assault, auto theft and terroristic threatening.

Lopez remains hospitalized. His bail is $200,000.
