2009 HONOLULU -- A 45-year-old man died while Honolulu police officers were taking him into custody late Monday night in Waianae, authorities said.Officers subdued the suspect after a brief struggle and said he became unresponsive.He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.Police said they were called to the scene after receiving a call that an armed man was threatening people.The suspect had taken drugs and was acting paranoid, police said. Authorities also said the man had a history of hypertension, that he was not taking his medication and that methamphetamine and marijuana were found in his home.
