As light Kona wind persists, an increase in vog has spread from the Big Island across the entire state.

From the Waianae Mountain Range to Diamond Head, thick volcanic haze and pollution blanketed most of Oahu on Wednesday.

Some folks who hit the beach to cool off complained about allergies, while others hardly noticed.

"I guess I could imagine how it could be more blue and more clear, but other than that it's beautiful out here," tourist Joyce Wong said.

"In the mornings it's a little bit thicker in the chest, but by the afternoon it kind of wears off," surfer Michele Ping said.

While the haze seemed to be heavy in the morning, the air quality was still rated "good," Department of Health officials said. Unless you're highly sensitive, the vog poses little or no risk.

Light trade winds are forecast to return on Friday pushing some of the vog and smog away, the National Weather Service said.
