Arrest Made In Jewelry Theft

Man Tried To Sell Stolen Jewels To Owner, Police Say

A man was arrested on Kauai after he unknowingly tried to sell stolen jewelry to its owner, police said.

Police believe the 25-year-old man stole the goods from a parked vehicle Wednesday.

The next day, he took the jewelry to the Gold and Silver Trading Company on Hardy Street in Lihue to sell it. The owner of the shop was the victim of the theft.

The owner called police and the suspect was arrested in the store.
