HONOLULU -- The state is now offering a free service that notifies people about sex offenders in their neighborhoods.

Users can sign up to receive alerts about sex offenders who live or work in their areas when it becomes available for that region or when a sex offender moves into that area.

Users can specify for a zip code or a 1-, 2- or 3-mile radius of an address.

People can sign up for the service at sexoffenders.ehawaii.gov.
