Big Island Police Look For Man In Sex Assault Case

Hawaii County Police are asking for help in finding a man accused of kidnapped and sexually assaulting a woman over the weekend.

A man was driving along Kilauea Avenue near Lanikaula Street in Hilo when he started following a woman walking along, police said.

The man attacked the woman, abducted her and then sexually assaulted the woman as they drove along Highway 11, police said. The woman jumped out of the car and ran, but the man stopped and attacked her again.

Another driver stopped when he saw the attack and the culprit fled the scene.

The suspect is described as 5 foot 7 inches tall, 185 to 200 pounds with short dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Police asked that anyone with information call Big Island CrimeStoppers.
