Military Deploying More Than 7,000 Hawaii Troops

Hawaii-Based Troops To Head To Iraq, Kuwait

The Department of Defense announced Monday it will deploy more than 7,000 Hawaii-based troops to Iraq and Kuwait this year.

The Department of Defense's decision will affect about 25,000 troops across the country.

Hawaii-based Marines, Army infantry and Hawaii National Guard will deploy between now and September to support the war.

By this fall, Hawaii-based troops deployed in Iraq and Kuwait will total more than 12,000.
